Teaching

Russ is a trained guitar instructor for over 35 years and provides private lessons on location at the Door County Music Company store. He teaches all styles of music, according to the tastes of the individual students. The personalized training allows Russ to determine the student's skills and goals, and then set up the best plan to help them succeed.

His holistic approach includes teaching most students to read music, making it easier for them to expand to other instruments if they so desire. Russ also provides vocal coaching with the lessons to aid the student with timing.

His goal is to keep the lessons relaxed and fun, without pressure or intimidation, so that his students can feel comfortable and confident with their playing. As he says, "What's the point if it's not fun?"
